About Us

Are you new to the church or the area? If so, you are very welcome! Please do check out our New to Church page to get all the information about what goes on at Heaton Baptist.

We are an energetic, lively church made up of people of all ages from all walks of life and from different nations. We love to see new people and are confident that you will feel at home. Our Sunday mornings begin at 10.30 with a prayer and sung worship. We are a hugely diverse, multicultural church, and if English isn't your first language, you can still join in the service using our free translation tool in the sanctuary when you arrive. You will also find families, students, young professionals, retired folk, and people of every age and background at HBC.

We are a thriving church and there is something for everyone throughout the month, from small groups, toddler groups, alternative services and special interest groups. Click the Church Life tab to find out more, or have a look at what is coming up here!

Everyone is welcome

When people say 'everyone is welcome', that often comes with caveats. We hope to be different and we aspire to be different. One of our key values is being Welcoming and we take that seriously. So that means we welcome you if you are single, married, divorced, widowed, straight, gay, confused, well-heeled or down-at-heel. We welcome wailing babies and excited toddlers. We welcome you whether you can sing like Pavarotti or just growl quietly to yourself. You’re welcome here if you’re just browsing, just woken up or just got out of prison.

We welcome you if you think the Earth is flat, you work too hard, don’t work, can’t spell, or are here because Granny is visiting and wanted to come. We welcome you if you are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you are inked, pierced, both or neither. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down their throats as kids or got lost and found themselves here by mistake.

We welcome you if your faith is sorted, if you have nothing but questions, if you class yourself as a 'seeker', a 'doubter', 'agnostic', 'atheist', 'religion-shopper', 'church-hopper' or whatever you might class yourself as.

You are welcome.

What you do is important to God and to us

You might be a plumber or a teacher, retired or a student, unemployed or looking for a new job. You might be interested in sport, films, the arts or science. You might prefer the Great Outdoors or the Armchair. We believe all these contexts matter to God, and we seek to encourage and equip you to follow Jesus well through all the opportunities and challenges you have there.

Come and visit us on a Sunday or during the week and feel free to ask us more about anything you've seen here. And click here if you want to see our Vision and Values.
