HBC Values A3 2022
Our vision and values

Our vision

We believe our vision is a clear one. Jesus’ last words to His followers was:

‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ (Matthew 28:19-20)

We seek to live this out in all that we do and how we serve.

Our values

We do this with five key values which underpin all we do here. We strive to be:

Christ-centred
We pursue Jesus, believe He is the hope of the world, and desire for Him to be the central focus of our worship, lives and communities.

Discipling
We are committed to journeying in community, encouraging each other to grow spiritually and seeking ways to love and follow Jesus, in lives of Sabbath rhythm.

Generous

We serve a loving, generous God. We want to reflect that generosity in our lives, prayers, time, giving and homes. We want to bless our church, community, city and world.

Missional
As the Spirit sent the first disciples, we commit to being outward-focussed, joining with God’s mission in the world and seeking to share the Good News of Jesus in word and action.

Welcoming
As the Father, Son and Spirit draw us within the circle of their shared life, we want to respond by offering radical, inclusive welcome to everyone.

We are a member of the Baptist Union, and fully subscribe to their Vision and Values. We also stand by the Baptist Union's Declaration of Principle, which is below:

Declaration of Principle
The Basis of the Baptist Union is:

1. That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and that each Church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to interpret and administer His laws.

2. That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who 'died for our sins according to the Scriptures; was buried, and rose again the third day'.

3. That it is the duty of every disciple to bear personal witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelisation of the world.
