Youth

We have lots of brilliant young people at Heaton and there is plenty to get involved in within our youth programme. We love playing games, eating good food, spending time together, but most importantly, we love learning about God and journeying in our faith together. We are passionate about helping young people to encounter and connect with God, find their identity in Him and reach out to the world with His love.

Our young people are in two different groups. Years 7-9 are in Grid, whilst Years 10-13 are in ID.

All of the youth work at Heaton is led by an amazing team of volunteers from the church family. All of our leaders are DBS-checked and receive regular training.

If you are new to the church and want to find out more about the regular youth activities we run for your child or children then please visit our Contact Us page.

Grid (Years 7-9)

Sundays:
Grid meet in the youth loft at 11am on a Sunday morning. In Grid, we spend time having fun and learning about God. We love to explore faith creatively and we look at topics such as what it means to be a disciple, Old Testament prophets and Bible characters.

Wednesdays:
On the fourth Wednesday of the month, Grid splits into two groups: one for girls, and one for boys. They meet from 6.30pm-8pm and these groups are an opportunity to deepen relationships with each other and to encounter God.

Extra activities:
In the Heaton youth, there are also opportunities to go on trips and every couple of years we have a Youth weekend away. We also go to Soul Survivor most summers and have opportunities for our young people to be involved in overseas mission.

ID (Years 10-13)

Sundays:
ID meet in the youth loft at 11am on a Sunday morning. After eating some nice food and spending some time together, ID move into the sofa room, where we explore what it means to be a Christian, and how our faith impacts the world around us. In ID, we have recently covered topics like relationships, big questions and what it means to be a disciple.

Service Sunday:
On the fourth Sunday of each month, the young people in ID are encouraged to serve in another ministry in the church. Some of our young people are involved in the worship team, creche or serve tea and coffee after the service. Service Sunday is an opportunity for our ID group to grow in their gifts and to be involved in leadership in the life of the church.

Wednesdays:
ID meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month for Youth Lifegroup. At Heaton, we have Lifegroups for the congregation to be involved in mid-week and Youth Lifegroup is dedicated to young people. Youth Lifegroup is about spending time together building relationships and having space to explore the Bible and faith more deeply. We have recently covered topics like fear, the life of David and the Freedom in Christ programme.

Extra activities:
In both Grid and ID, there are opportunities to go on trips and every couple of years we have a Youth weekend away. We also go to Soul Survivor most summers and have opportunities for our young people to be involved in overseas mission.
